Red Drift Roses are low growing groundcovers that have a naturally flowing, cascading appearance. Clusters of red flowers with a traditional rose shape will appear in the mid spring through fall. Fully mature shrubs will reach approximately 1.5" H x 2.5" W and requires very little maintenance. Being as low maintenance as they are, Drift Roses will grow well in most soil conditions, but they prefer moist, well-drained soil with a pH of 6 to 7. Make sure not to overwater as this may lead to root rot issues. As most roses do Drift Roses thrive in full sun and need atleast 6+ hours of direct sunlight daily from spring to early fall. While Drift roses don't require pruning, a good trim will help the plant become denser and promote growth. Drift roses should be pruned in the later winter or early spring once a year to about a six to eight-inch height. Since these are groundcover roses they are shorter in height compared to traditional rose bushes, but still just as beautiful. They can be used as container plantings near entryways, border edgings or grown similarly to ivy by allowing it to climb a trellis or wall.

  • EYE POPPING COLOR: Red Drift Roses form a vibrant cascading appearance whether as container plants or ground covers. It blooms through spring and summer, giving you that bright pop of color in the garden. With a mature height of 1.5 feet and a spread 2.5 feet the vivid Roses are easy to maintain and provide exceptional color throughout the spring and summer season.
  • CASCADING: Whether it is over a wall or a rolling hill in your landscape, these Red Drift Roses are sure to cover them with vivid colors. These are often used as accents, borders, mass plantings and as foundational growth. Butterflies, birds, and bees will all love the addition of the Red Drift Rose to your garden.
  • MAINTENANCE: When it comes to pruning Drift Roses do not require it although they do respond well to it. Perform a hard prune in the early spring after the threat of a hard freeze has passed, but before new growth begins.
  • USDA ZONES: You will find that your Red Drift Roses are suitable for zones 4 - 11. Like all roses, they prefer full sun, a rich but moist well-draining soil and regular watering. Water from the base of the plant. Place 2 to 3 inches of mulch around the base of the shrub to help retain moisture.
  • POTTED PLANT: Ships as 2 Gallon pot plant with soil from the Alabama Gulfcoast. Not available to ship to Hawaii or Alaska. We make no guarantee that your rose plant will be in bloom when it is received.
